Paul Totten Ordained to the Diaconate

Maghaberry man Paul Totten was ordained a Deacon in the Antiochian Orthodox Church on Sunday 22nd November 2008. The ordination was carried out by the newly installed Metropolitian of the Antiochian Orthodox Church, at St Ignatius' Antiochian Church on the corner of the Antrim and Cliftonville Roads. His Eminence Metropolitan John, who flew in from Paris. As well it being the first visit of His Eminence to Belfast, it was also the first ordination of the Antiochian Orthodox Church in Ireland. His Eminence expressed his gratitude to the primates of Ireland, bishops and clergy and all the people he met in Ireland during his stay, adding that the people were "some of the most warm hearted and friendly that he had met in his travels".
